Poker Basics: Hand Rankings

OK, let's get started by taking a look at the different poker hands. These are displayed in order, best first. So for example, a Royal Flush beats a Straight Flush, which in turn beats 4 Of A Kind, and so on...

Royal Flush: 10, J, Q, K, A of the same suit
Straight Flush: A sequence of any 5 cards of the same suit
4 Of A Kind: The same card from each suit, for example AAAA or KKKK. If two players have 4 of a Kind, the player with the highest value cards wins.
Full House: A full house is 3 cards the same, and another 2 cards the same. For example, AAA and KK.
Flush: 5 cards all of the same suit, but not in sequence
Straight: A sequence of 5 cards, of any suit.
3 Of A Kind: Three cards of the same value, for example AAA or KKK. If two players have 3 of a Kind, the player with the highest value cards wins.
2 Pairs: Two sets of two cards of the same value, for example AA and KK. If two players have 2 Pairs, the player with the highest value cards wins.
Pair: Two cards of the same value, for example AA. If two players have a pair, the player with the highest value cards wins.
High Card: If no player has any of the hands above, the winner is the layer with the highest value card.
